WHAT IS SINGLE-ORIGIN COFFEE?

Single-origin coffees are created using beans sourced from one location. “Location” generally means coffee-growing regions, which are well-defined.

TRES RIOS REGION:

The well-defined wet and dry seasons of Tres Ríos produce the perfect soil and climate for growing coffee. Thick deposits of volcanic ash from the Irazú Volcano provide rich organic matter that gets distributed to plant roots, helping them to retain moisture. In fact, this area was one the regions first chosen for coffee planting in Costa Rica, because experts recommended planting coffee at higher altitudes, protecting them from the buffeting of wind with rows of trees.
